"Home Sweet (new) Home"
"Sarah Ciampa stopped by mid-morning to deliver her piece, 'Nautilus in Ziploc Bag,' an example of the super-realistic work she’s been creating for the past six years, focusing on the juxtaposition between the natural and material world.
'I’ve been on beaches a lot this summer, and I’ve noticed so much plastic everywhere,' Ciampa said.
'That’s what gave me the idea to use the symbolism of taking the ocean and encasing it in plastic.'
Ciampa’s work has been displayed throughout the country, and she’s represented by the Fountainhead Gallery in Seattle, but she still rues the closing of the Jacobs Gallery and its impact on local artists.
'Every gallery is important,' she said. 'I do hope that government, businesses and artists can come together to make it financially possible to sustain art and artists in this community.' "

Statement from juror Teri Sund:
"With nearly 400 pieces to consider and narrowing it down to 25 – 40 pieces with only one work of art from each artist, I went about the selection process by trying to isolate what I felt showed technical skill. It is crucial to me that an artist is confident with their chosen medium, exhibiting a technical proficiency and evidence of control. "Instagram
